Joseph Karanja won the Murdoch University Open at Muthaiga Golf Club on Wednesday.
Karanja inked the winning score thanks to a relaxed but competitive match with his playing mates, where he picked seven pars and two bogeys on his front nine.
He faltered after the halfway mark, picking an eight on the par-five 10th hole and bogeyed the 11th, but sank back-to-back pars on the subsequent hole to wind up tops with 41 stableford points.
"I enjoyed the camaraderie and sportsmanship in my four-ball, which brought out the best in me. The immaculate course condition made things better for me," said Karanja.
Senior Patrick Obath returned 40 stableford points to settle for the Men's second prize winner.
Handicap 16, Sonal Chandaria was declared the Lady winner with 38 stableford points, followed by Jenn Muthoni, who raked in 36 stableford points.
Youngster Ronan Patel, playing off handicap four, carded 36 stableford points to clinch the Junior prize, with former chairman Bhavnish Chandaria bagging the Gross prize with 75 gross points.
Nick Kamere and Denis Muriithi won the first and second Nine prizes with 20 and 24 stableford points, respectively.
The Australian High Commissioner in Kenya, Jenny Da Rin, highlighted the economic importance of the ties between the two countries.
