The stage is set and excitement builds as all roads lead to Ruiru Sports Club tomorrow for what promises to be a landmark event in the Kenyan golf calendar.

The club will be making history by hosting its first Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Golfer of the Year (GOTY) tournament, marking yet another milestone for the club and the women’s golf circuit in Kenya.

The highly anticipated event will bring together over 200 lady golfers from across the country, meeting for a spirited weekend of competition, camaraderie, and celebration.

Stiff action is expected amongst the current top ten ladies in division A standing which includes Joyce Wanjiru, Mercy Nyanchama, Ashley Awuor, Margaret, Kellie Gachaga, youngster Kanana Muthomi, Agnes Nyakio, Esther Chumo, Naomi Wafula and Frankie Gichuru.

The battle for from the top ten leaders in division B are Beldina Monchari, Rosemary Mkok, Betty Adhiambo, Rebecca Njui, Lily Kanyata, Farida Limo, Stela Njoroge, Nelly Njaga, Siphra Nyongesa and Sharon Moraa, among others.

Earlier this year, Ruiru staged the prestigious KLGU Ladies 54-Hole tournament and this upcoming GOTY event further cements its growing reputation as a premier venue for women’s golf in Kenya.

Club lady captain Rodah Mukami said hosting the KLGU GOTY Ladies Open is both an honour and a defining moment for the club.

“The legacy truly unfolds here. Our course is in pristine condition, our team is ready, and we are excited to welcome golfers from all over Kenya.

“This is more than a tournament, it is a celebration of women, golf, and growth,” said Mukami.

She further pointed out that the course has been meticulously prepared by the club’s green keeping team, promising players a true test of skill.

“With firm, fair fairways and fast, rolling greens, the layout rewards precision, confidence, and strategic play, offering a competitive yet enjoyable golfing experience for all,” added Mukami.
