Prashant Thakar rules June's Mug of the Month in Kisumu

Prashant Thakrar emerged as the overall winner of the "June Babies Monthly Mug" golf tournament played over the weekend at Nyanza Golf Club.

Thakrar produced a strong performance on the course to finish with a net score of 64 points, earning top honors in a day filled with excitement, competition, and celebration.

The tournament brought together golfers from different age groups and skill levels. In Division I, Jiten Pabari claimed the top spot with 67 points, while Julius Omollo followed closely as the runner-up with 64.

In Division II, Raemesh Kara emerged as the winner, also with 67 points, and Lina Akello took second place with 64 points.

Serah Owuor won Division III after scoring 64 points, while Jackson Ulira finished as runner-up with 67. The tournament also gave special recognition to players born in June, with Mourice Oduor winning the June Babies category with a score of 67.

Visiting player Paul Nyenga impressed in the Guest category, posting a strong score of 76 points. Among the senior golfers, Deepack Sohanlal took top position with 70 points.

Young golfer Joseph Chege stood out as the Best Junior, while Paul Otieno won the Nine-Hole competition with 33 points.

The event also included special contests for skill and accuracy. Dr. O. Lusi hit the Longest Drive for Men on Hole 12, while L. Kongani won the Longest Drive for Ladies on the same hole.

Stanley Ogejo took the Nearest to Pin award on Hole 13 after a sharp approach shot. On Hole 17, Raju Bhayani and Faraja Mulunda each made two excellent shots during the ball pool challenge.

After the prize-giving ceremony, Nyanza Golf Club captain Griffin Owino praised the players for their spirit and thanked everyone who made the event a success.

"It was a wonderful day of golf. We are proud of the winners and all participants," Owino said. "This event shows how golf continues to grow in our club, and we will keep encouraging young and senior players to stay involved."

The June Mug tournament ended on a high note, with players already looking forward to the next monthly challenge.
