Limuru warms up Snow ahead of Uganda Open

A final round 5-under-68 presented Greg Snow of Muthaiga Golf Club with The Open Limuru meet win.

Snow melted his way to the final day victory with a steady run after setting off with successive birdies on the first and second holes.

He gathered steam on the par-five third hole where he made an eagle and quickly followed that up with back-to-back birdies to the fourth and fifth holes en route to the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) event win.

The meet saw 28 pros battle it out for a share of Sh500,000 kitty after two days where they were hosted by the Limuru Golf and Country Club Captain, James Githinji.

"We are glad to have hosted the pros here for The Open here in Limuru, being one of the many platforms that they need to up their game," Githinji said, "My appeal to both corporates and individual sponsors is to provide the pros with as many platforms as possible to polish their skills through such tournaments."

Exuding confidence after dethroning day one leader, Kenya Railway Golf Clubs' Mike Kisia who fumbled out of contention on the final day. Kisia had led on day one at 4-under-68.

" I just couldn't swing, I switched off and lost my feel and focus completely," moaned Kisia.

Snow swung into action and maintained his tempo through the final round 18.

The star-studded field included the legend Dismas Indiza, Edwin Mudanyi, Mike Kisia, Jeff Kibwa, Mohit Medirrata, David Wakhu, Samuel Njoroge, Mutahi Kibugu, Simon Mburu, Daniel Nduva, Hesbon Kutwa and Hunjan Shah.

Others were George Felix, Jacob Okello, James Karanja, Jastas Madoya, Dennis Saikwa John Karichu, Erick Ooko, Sullivan Muthogia, John Karanja, John Limb, Robinson Owiti, Abraham Galgalo, Tony Omuli, Nelson Mudanyi, Richard Ainley and CJ Wangai.

Most of them used the two days to gauge their form ahead of the 92nd edition of the 2024 Johnnie Walker - Uganda Golf Open that tees up between September 4-7 at the par-71 Entebbe Golf Club layout.

On his escapades on the course, Snow was all smiles and confident ahead of the Johnnie Walker - Uganda Golf Open. Snow said, "It has been a decent two rounds, I thought I could go low after giving myself several chances but I didn't putt very well but today I finished strong."

"I went birdie 15, 16 and eagle the 17th hole before closing which means a lot of positives going into next week's event in Uganda."

"A tournament that I've never won, played pretty well there, having finished second to Indiza a couple of years ago, it's a course that suits my game and I'm looking forward to taking care of business there."

He claimed the largest share of the purse raking in Sh90,000.
