Long-hitting Hellen Manyara is the Lady Captain (Elizabeth Ngethe) 2023 prize winner.

Manyara outshone the rest of the field during the meet held at VetLab Sports Club, over the weekend.

Playing off handicap 20, Manya had a good showing on her front nine from where she scored 20 stableford points before topping it up with 18 stableford points to wind up with 38 stableford points.

The city-based Senior Principal Magistrate and a passionate champion of Sexual Gender Violence (SGBV) was all smiles as she savoured her sweet victory.

"I love golf. It is my reliever of things I see people experiencing because of SGBV as well as other legal-related issues," said Manyara.

She is also the secretary for the International Association for Women Judges (Kenya Chapter).

Despite the challenging fast-paced greens worsened by her shaky putting, Manyara banked on her long drives and iron shots to dominate the two-day meet.

She also won a four-ball better-ball competition on Friday alongside Zack Koech.

Division-A winner prize went to Mercy Nyanchama, playing off handicap five, on a weaker countback score of 38 stableford points, while Navya Nagda took the Division-A second winner prize on a similar score of 38 stableford points. Joy Ndonga was third on a score of 37 stableford points.

Winning Division-B was Pauline Kamuti on a score of 36 stableford points. Joyce Mathu won the Division-C main prize with a score of 32 stableford points edging out Christine Njoroge, who won the Division-C second prize with 32 stableford points.

Baptiste Berges, playing off handicap 23, won the Men winner prize on a compact score of 40 stableford points. Reuben Muruguiru was second on a score of 39 stableford points.

Outsmarting the sponsors on the course was Kiarie Kamau, playing off handicap 20, after returning a score of 42 stableford points. Moi Kipkirui was the Guest winner second on a score of 41 stableford points. [Mose Sammy]

The best among the visiting golfers was Laura Njoki after carding 38 stableford points. Alice Wanjiru won Guest's second prize with 37 stableford points.

In her speech, outgoing Lady Captain Elizabeth Ngethe said; "All is possible when one believes in themselves. Teamwork and patience are key in all aspects of life. I'm glad that the ladies' section grew during my tenure. Introduction of the internal ladies league has brought cohesion within the section and improved games that have seen more ladies join the club league team."
