Wambugu claims Nanyuki Captain prize

Home golfer Stephen Wambugu is Nanyuki Sports Club Captain (William Njoroge) 2023 prize overall winner.
Wambugu playing off handicap 16, inked a score of 38 stableford points to lift the title during the tournament played over the weekend.
Despite the torturous pin position which presented golfers with an intolerable round with most scratching even after finding the green on regulation but still scratching the hole. The worst experience was on hole number five, nicknamed " The Cliff hanger!" though the rest were not any better.
Veering off the fairway into the rough was even better than the experience with putting on the greens.
Jamba as he is popularly referred to by his peers was in his element carding 18 stableford points fr4om the front nine and additional 20 stableford points from the back nine to seal his victory and lift the title.
"It was one of those days you come out to support the club and also participate in a big tournament but then everything works in your favor. I believe that I have been putting in lots of time into my practice and it is beginning to pay off with such wins." Jamba said.
The tournament is presented by Kent Africa, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Serena Sweetwaters Tented Camp, Tawi Construction Limited, M & Manus, J M Mwangi & Co Advocates LLP, Wangombe Wambugu Law & co Advocates and Friends of the captain.
During the presentation dinner got underway, Club Chairman Kuldip Singh asked those present to observe a minute of silence in memory of Eddy Fernandez who served in 1983/84 as Chairman of the 100-year-old club.
Jamba beat past Captain prize winner, Joshua Kinoti to the prize. Kinoti, Captain's prize winner in 2006 claimed overall second prize with 37 stableford points.
Taking Men winner prize was Kevin Gitonga who carded 33 stableford points. Handicap -1, Charles Rob, who was the captains' horse posted 32 stableford points to bag Men winner second prize while Jacob Kimani settled for Men winner fourth on a score of 32 stableford points.
Purity Githui playing off handicap 20, emerged as Lady winner on a score of 37 stableford points ahead of Jenny Wachuka who posted 32 stableford points.
Guest prize was won by a handicap 27, John Muchunga from Kiambu Golf Club who carded 27 stableford points with Junior prize going to Sam Alpha on a score of 32 stableford points.
James Warui won First Nine prize with 18 stableford points as James Ngatia took Second Nine prize with 18 stableford points.
Four twos were registered by Robert Gachai (on hole 12), Joshua Kinoti, Peter Waweru and Fred Mugambi all on the third hole with each receiving 10 golf balls.
