126 golfers have been drawn up for Saturday's Nanyuki Captain (William Njoroge) prize.

The easily deceptive but challenging course is playing short with fast greens but the rough is unforgiving and one must hit the fairways or fade away.

The golf committee is promising both home and visiting golfers a memorable outing as the 9-hole course is in immaculate shape.

The tournament is presented by Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Serena Sweetwaters Tented Camp, Kent Africa, Tawi Construction Limited, M & Manus, J M Mwangi & Co Advocates LLP, Wangombe Wambugu Law & co Advocates and Friends of the captain.

The day-long meet will bring down the curtains on Captain Njoroge's two-year reign at the helm of the 100-year-old club which saw him start the Junior Golf program.

The program now hosts three junior tournaments annually in addition to having 25 active junior players.

In addition to hosting the maiden Safaricom Golf tour in Nanyuki, Njoroge was also instrumental in the conceptualisation and actualisation of the Mount Kenya District League, which has seen the participation of three clubs; Nanyuki Sports Club, Nyahururu Sports Club and Nyeri Club.

Nyahururu Sports Club is poised to claim the inaugural Mt Kenya District League title as they enjoy a slight margin over Nanyuki, while Nyeri is third placed.

An elaborate plan has been set out for the day that will see marshals manage a smooth flow of play to ensure everyone finishes on time.

"We extend a warm welcome to those drawn up for Captain's prize, but we will also have post-entries and assure them of an exciting day from start to finish, with an array of great prizes to be won. "Njoroge said.
