Visiting golfer Jacob Theuri carded an impressive score of 40 stableford points to lift Nyahururu Sports Club Chairman (Sam Munyua) overall prize over the weekend.

The Ruiru Sports Club golfer, playing off handicap 19, returned a score of 19 stableford points from his outward nine and an additional 21 stableford points from the inward nine to top the leaderboard.

Thanks to his double stroking, he managed to rake in vital points that spurred him to victory.

"I had a great caddie who encouraged me at every turn and being new to this course was key in how I managed my game and round. He kept telling me to go for an eagle and I would end up with a birdie or par," said Theuri.

The meet was presented by CIC Group, Gatundia Concreate Limited, Tononoka Group, ESS Equipment Limited, Royal Steel, Simba Corp and Pioneer Insurance.

Others were, Rubis, Ramoda, The Panari Resort - Nyahururu, Family Bank and Equity Bank, with a total of 134 golfers strutting the tight but long playing course.

Golfers were from host Nyahururu Sports Club, Nakuru Golf Club, Naivasha Sports Club, Ruiru Sports Club, Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Machakos Sports Club, Kenya Railway Golf Club, Vet Labs Sports Club Nyeri Golf Club, Njoro Golf and Country Club, Nanyuki Sports Club and Mombasa Golf Club.

Handicap 11, Moses Koskei, who is also a former chairman, was the Men winner on a similar score of 40 stableford points after losing out to Theuri on countback.

Long-hitting Bernard Wachiuri was comfortable as Men winner second after sharing the spoils with Theuri and Koskei on 40 stableford points, while Jesse Mugo settled for Men winner third on a score of 39 stableford points.

Dominating in the nines were D Munyeki and Joseph Kamiri with an identical score of 21 stableford points respectively.

Veteran golfer Boniface Waikwa, playing off handicap 5, won Gross prize with 30 stableford points.

Raphael Kimani clinched men's Longest Drive prize, while Florence Wanjiru was the Longest Drive Lady winner.

Gitahi Mahinda dialed his shot to three feet off the pin to win Nearest to Pin trophy, while Junior winner prize went to a handicap 19, Ryan Munyuaon, who had a score of 35 stableford points.
