Karen ready to host 7th NCBA Golf Series leg

Karen Country Golf Club will be hosting the 7th leg of the 2023 NCBA Golf Series on this Saturday with over 200 Golfers expected to battle for honors.

The participants in the tournament will each be vying for coveted slots in the Grand Finale, scheduled to take place later this year.

The winners of the overall gross, Men's category, Women's category, and juniors' category will also earn their place to compete in the highly anticipated Grand Finale.

This event follows the recently concluded sixth leg of the NCBA Golf Series, held at VetLab Sports Club, which saw an impressive field of 252 golfers with Junior Maina Iraki, playing off handicap 6, showcased his remarkable talent and skills to emerge as the overall gross winner of the tournament with an impressive score of 76 gross.

In the Men's gross category, Chrispine Owuor, playing off a handicap of 4, claimed victory with a score of 76 gross, surpassing Watson Burugu who secured the second position with an equally commendable score of 79 gross.

The Ladies gross category witnessed a captivating battle, with Mary Karano, playing off handicap 12, capturing the top spot with a score of 90 gross.

Junior golfer Navya Nagda showcased her impressive skills by hitting 91 gross, securing a commendable second-placed position in the category.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed his excitement saying they are thrilled to be heading back to Karen Country Club for the 7th leg of the NCBA Golf Series and that the Club has a rich history renowned for having good golfing facilities, making it the perfect setting for this tournament. "The NCBA Golf Series is not only about the sport of golf but also about building strong connections with our customers and the community. We are excited to witness the remarkable talent and sportsmanship on display as golfers compete for their place in the Grand Finale, "said Gachora.

He said the Golf Series continues to promote the sport of golf throughout the East African region and foster stronger connections between NCBA Bank and its customers.

This year's edition consists of a total of 17 club qualifier events hosted at various golf clubs in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.

So far, the Series has been played at the Railway Golf Club, Limuru Country Club, Windsor Golf Club, Thika Sports Club, Kakamega Sports Club and VetLab Sports Club.

Additionally, this year's series includes two junior tournaments, with the first one having taken place in Uganda last March and the upcoming one scheduled for the Nyali Golf Club in November.
