Following the conclusion of the opening round in Nairobi, the inaugural Nomadic Africa Series heads to the 18-hole Par 72 Thika Greens Golf Resort course this weekend with over 200 players already enlisted for the stable-ford showpiece.

The Railway leg a fortnight ago, marked the start of a series of six tournaments which will traverse the country to spread the salient message of "warmer temperatures" currently changing weather patterns and disrupting the usual balance of nature across the world.

Kenya Forest Services has partnered with FCM Travel Solutions (trading in Kenya as Charleston Travel Limited) and will be planting over 1000 trees within the expansive golf estate in line with President William Ruto's directive and drive to plant five billion trees to curb the threat of global warming.

Earlier in the year, President Ruto created a State Department for Environment and Climate Change to underline the government's commitment towards protecting Kenya from the adverse effects of global warming.

FCM/Charleston Travel Managing Director Hamisi Hassan remarked: "This is the time that we must forge strategic partnerships to combat the main challenge to our existence, as climate change is real. As FCM we are doing our bit through sports tourism to tackle the biggest threat to our wellbeing! We tour the Country, we play golf and plant trees. That way, we've left the place better than we found it."

After the Thika Greens' round tomorrow, the series proceeds to Mount Kenya region on May 20 where Nanyuki Golf Club members will have a chance to partake in this noble initiative. The Nyali Golf and Country Club leg is scheduled for July 1.

Handicap 20 home golfer Joel Mageto won the initial leg of the new Series at the par-72 Kenya Railway Golf Club course with a score of 39 stableford points.

Thika Greens Captain Henry Kinyua said the course is in pristine emerald condition ready for the large field tomorrow.
