Kamais wins KPA Golf Day in Nakuru

Handicap 0 John Kamais has done it again.
Kamais, who played off the scratch to beat a field of 170 golfers drawn from all over the country to win the overall title in the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) -Golf Day at Nakuru Golf Club over the weekend, did it in style.
Kamais scored 18 stableford points in the first nine and 24 in the back nine for a total of 42 stableford points to add to his cabinet another title.
"I have been working hard for this title and for the last four days, I have been training for four hours daily in Limuru, which is 'a high altitude area', for this tournament," Kamais said after receiving the top prize from KPA's Engineering Services boss, Anderson Mutalaki.
Mutalaki said the parastatal has come out as an entity to market its products and services to the population after concentrating their efforts in foreign markets.
"Kenyans also have a right to know what we are doing at the ports, hence the need to start sponsoring sporting activities in our Corporate Social Investment Policies," said Mutalaki who represented the KPA Managing Director John Mwangemi.
On the course, Gentro Gross lost by a point-difference to Kamais.
The handicap 5 Gross scored 18 in the first nine and 24 in the back nine for one over gross.
Handicap 6 John Mburu was the first runner-up winner at 41 points, ahead of former football administrator and Safari Rally driver David Mathai, who scored 40 stableford points (20,20).
Susan Ikua won the lady's title with 38 stableford points ahead of former lady captain Mary Kiruthi, who posted 37 (17, 20) points to emerge runner-up.
KPA's Charles Odoo won the staff prize at 34 stableford points ahead of Japheth Obonyo (30), Paul Koech(27) and Michael Sangoro (25).
Yatich Kangogo of Mombasa was the guest winner after scoring 33 stabeford points ahead of S. Odhiambo, John Kibet and Jared Ogem, who tied on 32 and Emmanuel Mbakaya at 30 stableford points. [Ben Ahenda]
