Kingo’ri’s squad wins Johnnie Walker Series

Sam King’ori’s team defied all odds to emerge the overall winners in the sixth leg of the ongoing “Road to Gleneagles” Johnnie Walker Golf Series at the 18-hole Sigona Golf Course, on Saturday.

Home club’s King’ori led Roy Njau, Peter Waweru, and George Gitau carded a combined score of 114 stableford points to carry the day.

A field of 288 golfers registered for the tournament that’s being sponsored by Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) under their band “Jonnie Walker”.

The golfers are battling for top honours aiming to play at the tournament’s Eagles Round where they stand a chance to win a fully paid trip to the iconic Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland.

The team of Sawan Shah, Gurtej Phull, Milka Mburu and Sawan Raikundalia, whose efforts returned a score of 113 stableford points, were second.

Sophie Liu, Rima Patel, Mary Wainaina and Zipporah Wachira brought a total of 108 stableford points to finish third.

At Ruiru Sports Club, handicap 29 Margaret Warugongo posted 45 points to emerge the overall winner of the ongoing ICEA LION King of the Course golf tournament.

Father Wilfred Mwaura, playing off handicap 16, was the men winner on 42 points, while handicap 19 Kennedy Wandera carded 41 points to win the Men runner-up slot. Handicap 34 Patrick Ngunjiri was the cat 2 Men winner on 40 points.

In the Ladies category, Winnie Kamau, playing off handicap 23, topped with 39 stableford points.

Caroline Njeru and Salome Mwaura took Lady Winner third and fourth respectively.

Machakos Sports Club’s Nderitu Macharia, playing off handicap 14, emerged as best male golfer on a score of 39 stableford points with Edwin Mburu coming in second with 38 stableford points.
