As the Standard County Golf Series continues, environmental conservation remains a key agenda in their quest to convert golf courses, which host the series, become greener.

The company is determined to plant more trees in all the golf courses that host the golf series.

By turning the environment greener, the company is working in partnership with three companies who equally have similar interests in environmental conservation.

They are Mediheal Group of Hospitals, who are represented by their Operations Vice President Santosh Devaraj, FMD East Africa Limited General Manager Fergus Robley and Space and Style Limited Managing Director Winnie Ngumi.

They all planted trees at Nakuru Golf Club over the weekend alongside Standard Group PLC CEO Orlando Lyomu and Chief Talent Officer, Nicholas Siwatom.

“Yes, we are determined to make the courses greener, but next time we’ll plant more.”

Siwatom said their cause in environmental conservation and climate change is unstoppable and called on all interested parties to join them and make a difference to the society.

”Our cause for environmental conservation continues through golf for sustenance of these efforts towards the same goal,” he said.

Siwatom added that they decided to use golf as a platform for promot ing conservation, because all golf courses are always green with availability of water and surrounding forests, hence the need to plant more in all golf courses where they’ll host all this tournament.

“We are more focused on climate change and it’s better to do it in golf courses where the environment is always green, with plenty of water,” said Siwatom.

Devaraj, who’s Mediheal Group of Hospitals were the platinum partners of the tournament, said they are keen to have their presence felt.

“Global warming is a worrying issue and we need to contain it is through environmental conservation,” he said.

While appealing for the public to use their facilities after holding a free medical camp at the club, Devaraj said their medical institutions have good environment.

“We are always keen on the environments we have our facilities. That’s why we are keen on this program,” he said.

FMD East Africa Limited General Manager Fergus Robley said they got involved in this cause because the event has mixed environmental matters with agriculture, which is their mainstay.

“If we don’t act to protect the environment, we’ll lack a formidable cause for conservation, which could impact negatively on our future activities,” he said.

Robley promised to continue supporting golf in future championships.

Space and Style Limited Managing Director Winnie Ngumi said they are also interested in the exercise with Standard Group PLC.

Space and Style Limited is a venture that offers building solutions.
