Gor Mahia’s title charge has been slowed down after relegation-fighting Kariobangi Sharks held the leaders to a 0-0 draw in a tight SportPesa Premier League match played at Kasarani Stadium yesterday.

K’Ogalo needed a win to maintain a seven-point gap between them and AFC Leopards, who now have the opportunity to cut the lead to within two points today if they can see off Murang’a Seal at Ulinzi Sports Complex from 2 pm.

The draw leaves Gor top on 57 points, five more than Ingwe, who will have played a game more after today’s encounter that could shape the late dash for the title.

On the other hand, the Sharks moved one point above the relegation zone after picking up a point.

Sharks sit 14th with 25 points, a point above Ulinzi Stars, who lost 1-0 to APS Bomet at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Anthony Naibei netted the crucial goal for the visitors, who are also fighting to avoid the chop.

Despite collecting maximum points, Bomet are still in the bottom three as they also move to 25 points, but an inferior goal difference sees them occupy the 16th spot on the log.

Bidco United, who play KCB today at Wang’uru Stadium, are 17th with 22 points, as Sofapaka, who drew 0-0 with Bandari on Friday, sit bottom with 16 points.

At Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega Homeboyz thrashed Mathare United 3-0 to move third in the standings with 45 points.

Oliver Machaka, Samuel Odaro, and Henry Omolo were on target for the host, who condemned the Slum Boys to their 12th defeat of the season.

Despite the defeat, Mathare remain five points above the relegation zone.

Action continues today as Shabana, on 43 points, seek to reclaim third spot when they face Nairobi United.

Shabana are pushing to close the gap on the top two, while Nairobi United want a win.
