Kisumu Day High School and Agai High School are through to the finals of the 2025 Nyanza Region Secondary School Term Two games set to be played next week.

Kisumu Day qualified for the regionals after knocking out nemesis Kisumu Boys 2-1 in a rescheduled Kisumu County Secondary School football boys’ semifinal played on Friday at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo.

The reigning county champions used their second-time lucky charm to edge their rivals.

Two weeks ago, Kisumu Day were done and dusted with the KSSSA Term two games after they had lost 4-3 in post-match penalties to Onjiko High School.

Onjiko had finished second in Group A behind Agai and met Group B leaders Kisumu Day in the semis.

However, Kisumu Boys who did not make the semis after finishing third in Group A behind Onjiko and Agai appealed their 1-0 defeat to Onjiko during the preliminaries.

County Director of Education’s office proceeded to ban Onjiko for three years for fielding ineligible players during this year’s games.

The office also declared all the football matches played from semis null and void and called for a rematch.

Today, Kisumu Boys hosted Kisumu Day at Mamboleo where they took a 15th-minute 1-0 lead before a long stoppage time followed after the referee awarded a penalty to Kisumu Day.

Kisumu Boys players had walked out in protest to the delayed penalty call by the referee who had initially waved play on after the incident.

After intervention, the match resumed and Nicholas Odhiambo leveled the scores from the spot.

In the final half, Joseph ‘Ngolo’ Odhiambo completed the comeback for Kisumu Day who are now through to the Nyanza finals.

At Moi Stadium, Agai thrashed Kasagam 5-1 to also qualify for the finals.

Kisumu Day will now renew their rivalry with Agai in the finals later in the evening.

Last year, Kisumu Day saw off Agai 2-0 to win the Kisumu County football boys’ title.
