Harambee Starlets will face off with Tanzania’s Twiga Stars today (6pm) in the title decider as the curtains come down on the Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge Cup at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

On Thursday, Kenya stretched their unbeaten run to three matches after thrashing South Sudan 4-0.

Faith Mboya gave Harambee Starlets the lead after only three minutes. The South Sudan team defended in numbers and closed out Kenya’s attack till the interval.

In the second half, Violet Nanjala Wanyonyi, Martha Amunyolet Emedot and Elizabeth Ochaka got their names on the score sheet to ensure Kenya collected another big win.

“I am happy that the team is working hard to score many goals, and we hope to put up another good performance against Tanzania on Saturday,” said Kenya’s coach Beldine Odemba.

Odemba said she is impressed with how the team has recovered from their last friendly match, which they lost 5-1 to Morocco two weeks ago.

“This team is good. They rectified mistakes that were evident during our last international friendly in Morocco. They adapt quickly, and we will be going for the title,” said the Police Bullets head coach.

The Championship, played on a round robin basis between five teams, will climax today in the deciding match between table leaders Tanzania and Kenya.

Twiga Stars, who are also using the tournament to prepare for the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), lead the table with a better goal difference than Kenya, who also have nine points.

Kenya got off to a perfect start last Sunday when they saw off Burundi 3-0. Martha Amunyole scored a brace before Faith Mboya sealed the win.

On Tuesday, Harambee Starlets maintained their perfect start after thrashing arch-rivals and defending champions Uganda Crested Cranes 4-0 at Azam Complex.

Diana Wacera put Kenya ahead in the 18th minute before captain Dorcas Shikobe made it 2-0 eight minutes later.

Violet Nanjala then ensured the Beldine Odemba charges will go to the break with a healthy 3-0 lead after netting the third goal in the 28th minute.

Martha Emedot rounded off the win for Kenya late into the second half as Harambee Starlets won 4-0.
