CAF inspects Kenya's 2025 CHAN preparations ahead of August tournament

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is currently in Kenya for a three-day inspection visit to evaluate the country's readiness to co-host the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) alongside Uganda and Tanzania this August.
Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, the Creative Economy, and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, stressed the nation's determination to meet all CAF recommendations.
He assured that Kenya is fully committed to fine-tuning preparations to ensure the tournament is a world-class success.
"We welcome the support that CAF has accorded Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania during this critical preparation period, we do not take it for granted. I want to assure CAF that Kenya is ready, and we have aligned our systems to fully support CAF in delivering a stellar event," Mvurya stated during a high-level meeting with CAF officials, including Mr. Pierre Alain Mounguengui, CAF's 3rd Vice President and President of the CHAN Organising Committee.
The team is currently assessing infrastructure and logistical arrangements at the designated venues.

Mvurya highlighted that discussions between the three host nations are advancing well, particularly concerning the facilitation of free movement for fans, players, and officials across borders-an essential element for smooth tournament operations.
"The tripartite countries have progressed well in mobility discussions aimed at removing logistical bottlenecks, both at a regional level and for individual participants. We will be updating CAF soon with feedback on the decisions reached by our respective governments," he added.
Mounguengui praised the progress made by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, urging all stakeholders to accelerate final preparations at the stadiums and facilities to meet the scheduled tournament timeline. The ongoing inspection is part of CAF's standard protocol to ensure venues, security, transportation, accommodation, and operational plans are fully ready.
Set to attract thousands of fans, athletes, and officials, the 2025 CHAN tournament will be a key opportunity for East Africa to demonstrate its ability to host major international sporting events. It also promises to promote regional collaboration and accelerate sports development across the continent.
