All eyes on Police, Tusker and Gor Mahia as FKF PL title race hots up

The race to win the 2024-2025 FKF Premier League title will continue today across the country as seven teams also continue their battle to avoid being relegated to the second tier National Super League.
Defending champions Gor Mahia, Tusker and leaders Kenya Police will all be seeking redemption after rather unexpected midweek results that saw all the top three teams lose their matches against Nairobi City Stars, Talanta and Kakamega Homeboyz, respectively.
Police went down 2-1 to Homeboyz, while Tusker were stunned 2-0 by Talanta on Wednesday, defeats that handed the final title charge baton to Gor Mahia, who were playing on Thursday. However, the defending champions were also beaten 2-1 by struggling City Stars.
Today, Police will be seeking to solidify their top spot with a win against Talanta at Kenyatta Stadium, which will host a doubleheader in Machakos.
The early kickoff match will see City Stars face Posta Rangers as they push to move out of the danger zone.

Simba wa Nairobi's win over Gor lifted them out of the bottom to second last with 30 points, two points off safety, and a win over Rangers will see them join the mailmen, currently 14th, both with 33 points. City Stars are second last with 30 points.
The law enforcers, on the other hand, will want to move past the 60-point mark and increase their chances of winning a maiden league title. However, they face a Talanta side desperate to survive relegation and highly motivated after their Tusker win.
At Dandora Stadium, Tusker take on Sofapaka, eyeing to close in on Police in the second match after Kariobangi Sharks, who are not safe from the relegation mix-up, have hosted Kakamega Homeboyz.
Gor will travel to Muranga Seal, another team battling to avoid relegation.
In Kisii, Shabana will be banking once again on their thousands of fans to steer them to victory when they welcome Mara Sugar at Gusii Stadium.
Meanwhile, emotions are expected to run high in Mombasa when AFC Leopards fans pay their tribute and remember their departed Secretary General Gilbert Andugu at Mbaraki Sports Club, where they will play Bandari.
On Thursday, Ingwe raised Sh462,000 during a fundraiser in memory of the departed official. Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa contributed Sh100,000, while newly appointed Principal Secretary for the State Department for Economic Planning Bonface Makokha, Lurambi MP Titus Khamala and Chief of Staff, Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Joseph Busiega contributed Sh10,000 each. Ingwe patron Alexander Muteshi and Nairobi Chief Officer Youth, Talent and Sports, Oscar Igaida, gave Sh20,000 and Sh12,000, respectively.
