Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has officially joined Scottish Championship club Dunfermline Athletic FC on a short-term contract that extends through the end of this season.

The announcement came from the club on March 26, 2025, pending international clearance, as they seek to strengthen their squad in the crucial final stretch of the season.

Wanyama makes the surprise move to East End Park to work under Neil Lennon, the manager with whom he enjoyed success during their time together at Celtic from 2011 to 2013.

The midfielder, who has been without a club since departing Canadian side CF Montreal last November, aims to help Dunfermline escape the relegation zone.

"DAFC are delighted to announce the signing of Kenyan international, Victor Wanyama, on a deal until the end of the season, subject to international clearance," the club stated in their announcement.

The two-time Scottish Cup winner is eager to bring his wealth of experience to the squad. After his notable time at Celtic, where he scored in a memorable 2-1 Champions League victory against Barcelona, Wanyama continued his career in the Premier League with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur. At Spurs, he played a vital role in reaching the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.

Wanyama's transition to Dunfermline comes at a crucial time for the club, which has been struggling this season. Following a 2-0 defeat to local rivals Raith Rovers on March 12, the team currently sits just two points above the relegation play-off position, making their upcoming match against Ayr United a pivotal one in their quest for safety.
