Kenyan football fans are set for a thrilling showdown today as record champions Gor Mahia face current league leaders Tusker FC in a rescheduled FKF Premier League Matchweek 16 fixture at Machakos Stadium.

Over the years, clashes between these two giants of Kenyan football have been pulsating encounters, and today promises nothing less.

Gor Mahia head coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno exuded confidence ahead of the much-anticipated fixture, emphasizing his team's strong preparations as they aim to secure maximum points.

"We are preparing well... as a team, we had a plan and we are following that. We don't have any injury concerns at the moment, everyone is fit for selection and hungry to play ahead of Sunday's match," said Zico, a former Gor Mahia stalwart.

Tusker currently sit at the top the league standings with 30 points from 16 matches.

On the other side, Gor Mahia, the defending champions, are fourth with 24 points but have played two games fewer than their opponents. Zico acknowledges the challenge posed by the brewers but remains optimistic about his team's prospects.

"Tusker is a good team, one of the top teams in the country and we respect that, but again, Gor Mahia is a top team in Kenya. We are the defending champions, and we won't make it easy on Sunday. It's going to be a tough match," he asserted.

The coach highlighted the importance of maintaining focus and executing their game plan across all aspects.

"If we can control the game technically, tactically, physically, and mentally, there is nothing that will be difficult for us in that game," he added.

Tusker will be equally determined to extend their lead at the top, setting the stage for a fiercely contested encounter.

Elsewhere, Bandari will host Shabana at KPA Mbaraki Sports Club with both teams eager to return to winning ways. Nairobi City Stars will clash with KCB at Machakos Stadium in a fixture where the bankers will aim to keep their top-three aspirations alive.

Sofapaka will take on Posta Rangers at Dandora Stadium, while Murang'a SEAL will square off with Kenya Police at SportPesa Arena.
