Harambee Starlets and Kenya Police Bullets FC goalkeeper Annedy Kundu was voted the Best Goalkeeper of the 2024 CECAFA tournament despite the local champions missing out on CAF Women's Champions League qualification.
Kenya Police lost 1-0 to Ethiopia's CBE in the finals of the CECAFA qualifiers, missing out on the sole ticket to the continental games.
Police tactician Beldine Odemba, was also named the Coach of the Tournament, confidently states that the team is ready to make a strong comeback at the next championship.
Executive Chairman SAIG Nyale Munga praised the team's second-place finish:
"We came into this tournament as underdogs, and we leave it with our heads held high. This team has shown incredible spirit, skill, and determination. Their performance has put Kenyan women's football on the map, and this is just the beginning of our journey," said Munga.
The team's narrow loss in the final does little to diminish its achievements, which include upset victories over established powerhouses and a style of play that won admirers across East Africa.
