Gor Mahia are the 2023-2024 Football Kenya Federation (FKF-PL) champions.

Gor claimed a record 21st Premier League title after defeating relegation threatened Muhoroni Youth 3-0 yesterday at SportPesa Arena in Muranga.

Golden boot hopeful Benson Omalla scored his 16th goal of the season at the stroke of half time as Gor led 1-0 at the break.

Boniface Omondi made it 2-0 three minutes after the restart before Austin Odhiambo sealed the win with a goal in the 65th minute.

The win lifted K'Ogalo to 67 points, 11 points ahead of second-placed Tusker with three matches left until the end of the regular season.

With the win, Gor were automatically crowned champions since Tusker, who have 56 points, cannot accumulate more than nine, assuming Gor loses their remaining three matches.

Winning the league also saw Gor book their ticket to play in the CAF Champions League next season.

On the other hand, Muhoroni Youth race to avoid relegation was dealt a big blow after the defeat to the champions.

The Kisumu County outfit sits second-last in the standings with 28 points, two points below safety.

Shabana, who lost 2-1 to Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday, are occupying the relegation and promotion position with 29 points, while FC Talanta are 15th with 31 points. Meanwhile, Nzoia Sugar have been relegated to the National Super League (NSL).

The Bungoma County-based outfit was relegated after playing out to a 0-0 draw against Nairobi City Stars. Nzoia have lost 20 matches of the 31 matches played, drawing seven and winning only four matches this season.

Other matches played yesterday saw Bidco United stun AFC Leopards 1-0. Samuel Ndungu scored the only goal of the match as Ingwe lost their eighth game of the season.

Bandari meanwhile drew 2-2 with Sofapaka. Action continues today as FC Talanta face KCB as Ulinzi Stars battle Muranga Seal.
