Benson Omalla scored a brace as record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia thrashed Murang'a SEAL 3-1 in a FKF Premier League match staged at SportsPesa Arena on Saturday.

The win saw Gor Mahia move 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with six matches left until the end of the 2023-2024 season.

K'Ogalo now need three wins to secure a record 21st Premier League title.

In-form midfielder Austin Odhiambo gave the defending champions a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute before veteran John Kiplangat returned to haunt his former side to ensure the match heads to the break tied 1-1.

But it is Benson Omalla who was the happiest man as he finally ended his goal drought in style, hitting a brace to take his season tally to 14.

Omalla scored first scored from the spot after a foul on Austin Odhiambo in the area before he hit the final nail in SEAL's casket in extra time to remain golden boot favorite.

His closest rival Tito Okello of Kenya Police will be seeking to close the gap when the law enforcers face Kakamega Homeboyz in Mumias on Sunday.

Gor top the log with 60 points and are now in pole position of winning the title and also punching their ticket to the CAF Champions League next season.
