Harambee Starlets will on Tuesday (today) continue with their fight to get to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be held in Morocco when they face off against Botswana at Gaborone National Stadium.

Kenya drew 1-1 with Botswana during the first leg played at the Nyayo National Stadium, a result that gives The Mares an upper hand when taking into account the away goal rule.

Keituneste Dithede scored Botswana before Marjolene Nekesa restored parity for Kenya in the draw.

The winner of the match will qualify automatically to next year’s continental games.

Both teams have been to the WAFCON once and the winner of the second leg next week will book a ticket to the continental games for the second time.

The second leg will not be an easy match for Starlets, who will be chasing history.

Harambee Starlets made history by qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time on away-goal rule, following a 3-3 aggregate result over Algeria in 2016.

The first leg of the match back then also ended in a 1-1 draw before a 2-2 draw in Algiers saw them qualify on away goal rule. Will history repeat itself next week?
