Omalla helps Gor Mahia move to the top of the FKF Premier League

Benson Omalla scored his ninth goal of the season to inspire defending champions Gor Mahia to the top of the FKF Premier League on Sunday.

Gor Mahia defeated Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, a win that saw them leapfrog Posta Rangers at the helm of the 18-team standings.

Player of the Match Alpha Onyango netted at the stroke of halftime to give K’Ogalo a 1-0 lead at the break before Ghai Panchol restored parity for Sharks in the 82nd minute.

With the game headed for a draw, Omalla emerged to strike the winner for Gor who are now top of the table with 27 points, two points ahead of Posta Rangers.

Rangers who were ahead before the match day 13 lost 1-0 to Nairobi City Stars 1-0 on Saturday and dropped to second with 25 points.

In other matches staged on Sunday, Kakamega Homeboyz moved to third on the log with 1-0 win over Bidco United at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Bandari also won 1-0 against bottom placed Muhoroni Youth at Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa.

Sofapaka meanwhile thrashed 10-man Nzoia Sugar 3-1 at Sudi Stadium while Kenya Police shot down Murang’a SEAL 2-0.
