Posta Rangers title ambitions were dealt a big blow on Saturday after losing 1-0 to Nairobi City Stars in an FKF Premier League match played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Samuel Kapen scored the winner in the 17th minute after beating goalkeeper John Njau in goal for Rangers with a powerful shot, a goal that City Stars held on to for the remaining 73 minutes.

The defeat means defending champions Gor Mahia can go top of the table today if they edge out Kariobangi Sharks at the same grounds.

Rangers are currently one point above Gor Mahia with 25 points having played 13 matches as the 2023-2024 season starts to gather pace.

Victory moved City Stars to eighth with 18 points.

In Murang'a County, Boniface Muchiri scored a hat-trick to inspire Ulinzi Stars to a 3-0 win over FC Talanta at Sportspesa Arena.

Muchiri gave the soldiers a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead after netting in the 11th and 31st minutes before sealing his hat-trick in the 85th minute.

The win saw Ulinzi end their three-match losing streak to move to 11th in the log.

In Homa Bay County, Shabana held KCB to a 1-1 draw at Raila Odinga Stadium.

Brian Michira gave the hosts the lead in the seventh minute before Francis Kahiro restored parity on the half hour mark as the remainder of the match saw no goals.

Shabana remain 14th with 11 points as KCB are third with 23 points, two points off the top spot.
