It's a matter of wait and see if AFC Leopards head coach Tom Juma will survive the chop as his side is yet to master a win in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) campaign.

Leopards lost 2-0 to eternal rivals Gor Mahia at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

In truth, Leopards went to the derby as underdogs, in search of their first win this season.

They are now 17th on the league standings with four points and the stare at the relegation zone is quite telling. This doesn't make matters any better for head coach Tom Juma.

"We didn't lose because we were poor, but because we made several mistakes. If you compare this game with the previous games, you can see that the projection is going this way. It's a tough loss, we didn't expect this. That is just what happened, it's football."

What is against him, is time. With matches coming in thick and fast, time can't be a luxury for the tactician.

"I need time to develop the team. There is no magic. That's the little or the much I can do for now," said Juma.

With Leopards travelling to face Bandari in Mombasa on October 22, Juma's boys will have to summon all their might, or slide deeper into the dreaded zone.

His Gor Mahia counterpart Johnathan McKinstry said he was impressed with the team's show.

"We have a new team and we are developing progressively. We hope to post equally impressive results against Tusker in our next fixture," he said.

The win leaves Gor on 12 points, three behind leaders Posts Rangers.

Gor, the 20-time Premier League champions, and Posta Rangers, are the only two teams that have not tasted defeat this season.
