FKF Premier League runners-up Tusker have unveiled five new players to boost the club ahead of new 2023/24 season.
The players include Joseph Mwangi 26, who was Nzoia Sugar's top scorer having directly contributed to 21 goals in 30 matches for the Bungoma-based club.
Others include James Kibande 25, also from Nzoia Sugar, Fabian Adikiny from Muranga Seal, Toki Byamukama from Gaddafi FC Uganda and goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu who has been promoted from Tusker youth team.
Speaking during the event ob Friday Tusker head coach Matano said he has confidence in his new signings saying they were a young squad and will help him get good results.
When asked why he let senior players like his captain Humprey Mieno to go, Matano likened football to fishing saying work is to mentor young players.

"Mieno was and he still is a good player and we appreciate him but we need another Hum, we needed young blood especially below 26 so that they can have a good time. We didn't let the players to go because they didn't perform but we just wanted some changes. We need the team to grow and we can't have same players always," Matano said.
About the exit rumour at the club after letting Gor Mahia run away with the trophy last season, Matano insisted he was still the best coach for the brewers.
"A beautiful girl must be sort after and I think I am the beautiful girl that Tusker wants to stay with. I will have to leave when club is on top and not down," Matano said.
He insisted he don't regret what happened last season since he is a victor.
"Winners don't regret. That was a lesson to us and that is the reason I have brought in this new boys to bring in new thing," Matano said.
