Kakamega County football champions Musingu High School and Shanderema High School made their intentions known clear at the ongoing Western Region Secondary School games after both qualified for the semfinals.

Musingu, who dethroned Mwitoti Secondary to be crowned Kakamega champions two weeks ago, edged out Vihiga High School 2-0 in a thrilling match played in a full-packed Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday.

Allan Litwaka scored the first goal in the 15th minute before Elvis Ochieng came off the bench to seal the win at the closing stages of the match.

On Thursday, Musingu booked their ticket to the last four with a game to spare after narrowly edging out Kibabii 1-0 in their second group match.

Speaking after the win, Musingu head coach Brendan Mwinamo said they look forward to becoming new Western football kings.

"We are going to prove our worth and if Kakamega and other teams are not participating, then it means we are the best and we are going to fill the gap of football giants and bring the trophy back home," said Mwinamo.

The former Kakamega High School tactician, however, said his boys were not in their best element, something he vowed to improve on in the next stage.

On the other hand, Shanderema High School knocked out Emusire 2-0 in their Group B opening match before following it with a 0-0 draw against Friends School Lukhuna.

Mark Shaban scored in the fourth minute and 65th minute.

In an early kick-off, Kibabii High School from Bungoma County drew 1-1 against Bujumba Boys.

Bujumba also booked semis after hitting Vihiga 1-0 in their second match. Vihiga go home.

Shanderema are in Group B alongside Emusire, Friends Lukuna, and John Osogo, while Musingu High are in Group A together with Vihiga boys, Kibabii High, and Bujumba Boys.
