Former national football champions St Anthony's Boys Kitale have set the target of reaching the East Africa games ahead of their Rift Valley Secondary School games kick off Wednesday.

The 2019 champions who are in Group C alongside Olulunga from Narok and Christ the King from Kajiado will be using the regional finals as a stepping stone to reclaim the national title that eluded them last year according to St Anthony coach Peter Mayoyo.

Speaking to the Standard Sports, Mayoyo said they are ready for the regionals after camping for almost a week in Nairobi.

"We have been in camp at Hospital Hill in Nairobi for the past five days where the boys were training in addition to playing build up friendly matches against FKF Premier League sides including Kariobangi Sharks.

"These friendlies have enables us rectify some of our mistakes and also improved the team in terms of maturity and mental preparedness," said Mayoyo.

The multiple times Trans Nzoia County football champions are aiming to reach East Africa.

"Our main goal is to reach East Africa. We know it is a dream of every team but we are different and have set the bar higher. We know it won't be easy but we have to play our best football to get there. The journey starts in regionals today," said Mayoyo.

St Anthony's Boys Kitale Principal Simon Masibo revealed that they offer sports scholarships in the school which has helped nutture the boys talents and in turn the rise of the school when it comes to sports.

"We offer full and partial scholarship to our players. Currently we have quite a good number of students in this programme who are provided with equipment with our partners.

"The students are given opportunity to nurture their talents in a good environment," said Masibo.
