Dagoretti Mixed Secondary School and Dagoretti High School are the 2023 Nairobi Region football girls and boys champions respectively.

Dagoretti Mixed saw off Olympic 2-0 in the finals played at Moi Girls Nairobi on Tuesday to retain the title they won last year.

Phila Khayesi's goals in the 13th and 35th minutes were enough to hand coach Valentine Lumula a deserved win as they went all the way to win the title unbeaten.

Speaking after the match, Lumula said they have set their eyes on capturing the national title in Kakamega next month after coming short last year.

Lumula congratulated his girls for showing their might once again at the regionals.

"Congratulations to all my girls. They showed resilience and passion on the field and we want to take the same energy to Kakamega next month.

"It is going to be big. The first hurdle has been passed. Reaching the nationals was one but now we want to bring the top trophy home. Right now, we are not thinking about East Africa but Kakamega first.

"We celebrate this week and rest our muscles but next week the job resumes with high intense training because we are going to meet champions in Kakamega. We have to be ready this year," said Lumula who guided the school to a second place finish last year nationally.

In the boy's finals, Dagoretti High School shocked defending champions Highway Secondary School 1-0.

Dismas Ongocho scored the lone goal as Dagoretti dethroned Highway who are set for World School Games in Morocco next month.
