Shanderema shock Kakamega High as St Peters Mumias run riot

Shanderema Boys sent shock waves throughout Kakamega County on Thursday after defeating former champions and hosts Kakamega High School 1-0 in the ongoing county secondary school games.
The Green Commandos were considered favourites in Group A, which also has Marukusi and Munyuki, but Shanderema had other ideas.
Mark Shaban, a Form Four student, put Shanderema ahead in the 15th minute with a powerful. They are not top of the group.
Speaking after the win, Kelvin Asuba said they were confident despite being underdogs.
"Congratulations to the boys because they showed character, confidence and endurance despite playing against a very tough side. I always believe that with hard work, you can achieve anything and today, we got the result after putting in the work," said Asuba.

In the second pool match, Munyuki Boys beat Marakusi Boys 4-0. In Group D, Matioli saw off Lugusi 2-0 and drew with Musingu 1-1 to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Defending champions Mwitoti Secondary School beat Mwihila Secondary School 4-2 as Butere drew 0-0 with Sivilio. Emanani also picked a 4-2 win over Matunda.
St Peters Mumias also thrashed Matunda 5-0.
Kakamega High howevre bounced back to see off Marakusi 4-0 in their second match and they must now beat Munyuki Boys in their final pool match to stand a chance of reaching the knock outs.
In girls' football, Archbishop Njenga thrashed Sivilie 4-0 as Butere Girls hammered Mwitoti 6-0.
