Barding, Ambira face off in Siaya County Term Two games

Barding Boys High School will be hoping to rekindle their 2016 form when they renew their rivalry with Ambira at the 2023 Siaya County Secondary School Term Two games set to be played at Maranda and Nyamira Girls in Bondo from 12noon in Bondo.

Seven years ago, Barding shocked multiple champion St Mary's Kitende from Uganda 1-0 to be crowned the East Africa champions and they will be praying to their gods again this year to help them return back top supposedly, where they belong.

Barding will face off against Ambira, Ugenya and Bondo in Group A as St Mary's Yala, Wagai, Lieta and Siaya Township square it out in Group B.

Siaya County Secondary School Sports Association chairman Ngala Mbuor said they are confident of carrying out a competitve sports competiton in Bondo where he believes will produce more talents.

"We have talent in Siaya. These schools we dont takle serious are the ones producing top footballers nowadays and am happy we are back fully in the Term Two ball games after last year's merger closed out many schools.

"We are calling upon all partciapting schools to promote and parctise safe play and sportmanship because I believe we can grow together if we support each other despite the competition," said the St Patrick's Segere Principal.

In the girl's category, Uranga, Jera, Nyasanda and Wagai will play in Group A as Sega, Lwak, Hawinga and Bondo Township tussle in Group B.

In Netball, former national champion Obambo Girls will face off with Sega Girls in Group A that also consist of Nyawara and Nyamira Girls.

Obambo who last won the national title in 2017 have had a rollercoster down the step the past six years where Kaya Tiwi has risen to the top albeit last year's shocking win by Kobala Secondary.

Apart from 2017, Obambo also won the title three years in a row from 2013, 2014 and 2015.

In Group B, Sigomre will play Wagai, Agoro Oyombe and Kandaria.

St Mary's Yala, Ambira, Chianda, Ugenya , Sirembe, Sawagongo, Barding and Maranda will face off in rugby sevens.
