Raila wows Gusii Stadium as Shabana inches closer to FKF-PL return

Shabana Football Club moved closer to earning promotion to the FKF Premier League after narrowly edging out Kibera Black Stars 1-0 on Saturday to pick their seventh consecutive win in the National Super League (NSL) match attended by opposition leader Raila Odinga in Kisii.

The Gusii Stadium victory saw Shabana extended their lead at the top of the standings to 60 points, two points ahead of second placed Muranga Seals who saw off Mwatate United 2-0.

ODM party leader Raila Odinga attended the National Super League match between Shabana FC and Kibera Black Stars at Gusii Stadium, Saturday afternoon and donated Sh 500,000.

Raila attended the game as Shabana maintained a high speed in their quest to return to the Premier League.

ODM National Treasurer Timothy Bosire also donated Sh200,000 while Kisii Governor Simba Arati gave a donation of Sh 300,000. Nyamira Senator Okongo Omogeni added Sh200,000.

Peter Ongechi scored at the stroke of halftime to earn Shabana the win against Kibera.

Shabana has now won their last seven matches in a row with their last defeat coming at the hands of Assad in April.

Shabana FC coach Sammy Okoth says he is confident team can earn promotion to the top tier.

"We are determined to maintain good performances. We have had good response from our fans and now we have to reward them by taking them to the Premier League next season," said the former Kenyan international.

More than 15,000 fans attended the match.
