FKF Premier League title race will go down to the wire after leaders Tusker and record champions Gor Mahia played out to a 0-0 draw in a top of the table match at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

The stalemate leaves Tusker top of the table with 65 points, one point ahead of K'Ogalo with three matches left until the end of the 2022-2023 season.

Speaking after the match, Gor head coach Jonathan McKinstry rued missed chances but was still satisfied with a point.

"It was a very tight game where both teams played very different styles. I thought we created some good chances but it is unfortunate that we were not clinical. Overall, a draw is a fair result," he said.

However, McKinstry to some extent blamed poor officiating for the draw, saying the result would have been different if the league was using the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.

"The VAR would have intervened when my players were elbowed twice. If I bring Benson Omalla to you right now you will see a scar from eyebrow down to the neck and shoulder.

"I know there are a lot of things we have to do in Kenya and I am not calling out the centre referee but these instances call for two red cards. This changes the game," explained McKinstry.

With three matches to go, Tusker have a slim advantage considering they have some fair opponents. They are set to face already relegated Vihiga Bullets, relegation fighting Wazito and inconsistent Posta Rangers.

On the other hand, Gor Mahia have potentially stronger opponents compared to Tusker. They have to defeat Kakamega Homeboyz, Ulinzi Stars and Nairobi City Stars, and pray the brewers drop points.
