Kakamega Homeboyz will renew their rivalry with Tusker in the 2023 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup finals.

Homeboyz knocked out AFC Leopards after a 2-1 win at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Kevin Amwayi and Moses Shummah netted in the opening half as Homeboyz led 2-0 at the break before Cliff Nyakeya scored Leopards' consolation try.

Ingwe boss Patrick Aussems rued defensive mistakes to the defeat.

"It's a disappointment show for us. We have been building for this match for over a month and to lose it shows we need to do more.

"We made two big mistakes that costed us the match and despite trying to come back late in the game we could not complete our goal. That is football," said Aussems.

Kakamega Homeboyz coach Patrick Odhiambo on the other hand revealed they are happy and will keep believing they can play in the Caf Confederation Cup next season.

"Congratulations to the boys for giving their all in the match. I am happy our tactics played out and despite the late pressure, the boys were able to hold on and close out the game.

"This win will be celebrated not only within the team but also with our families back at home," said Odhiambo.

Homeboyz who knocked out defending champions Gor Mahia in the round of 16 stage will now have to stop Tusker in the finals if their goal of playing in the continental games is to be achieved.

In the earlier match, the brewers stunned Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in the first early-kick off semifinals played yesterday at Nyayo Stadium that hosted a double-header.

Second half substitute Erick Otieno headed home a 90th minute goal from a Levin Odhiambo's cross to send Robert Matano's charges to the finals where they will meet Kakamega Homeboyz.
