AFC Leopards derailed Nzoia Sugar's title ambitions after also narrowly edging out the 10-man Bungoma-based outfit 1-0 in a crucial FKF Premier League match played at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Ojo Olaniyi's goal in the 44th minute was enough to hand Ingwe maximum points as they moved joint eight on 42 points same as Homeboyz who have a superior goal difference.

Speaking after the match, Nzoia coach Salim Babu said there is still hope despite losing three vital points.

"We understand that we needed to win today. It was a tough match that we knew we had to bring our A game and it is unfortunate that we were punished for our mistakes.

"It is however not the end of the journey for us because we still have five matches left and the gap is not that big. Anything can happen and now we switch our focus to the next match," said Babu.

Patrick Aussems on the other hand said he was pleased with the show and they are looking forward to a strong finish.

"Nzoia has been a hard nut to crack and it was a good test for the boys. We played really well today and our focus shifts to finishing the season on a high note," the Belgian said.

In other results, Henry Onyango netted the winner as KCB edged out Posta Rangers 1-0, Nairobi City Stars held Ulinzi 1-1 as Bandari thrashed bottom placed Vihiga Bullets 7-2 in a nine-goal thriller match in Mombasa.
