Gor Mahia go four points clear at the top

Gor Mahia opened a four-point gap at the top of the FKF Premier League standings after edging out relegation-threatened Mathare United 2-1 in a midweek match played on Wednesday.

Philemon Otieno gave Gor the lead in the 25th minute before Ronald Sichenje restored parity five minutes into the break as the game went halftime tied at 1-1.

In the final half, Boniface Omondi netted the winner in the 60th minute as Jonathan McKinstry's charges picked maximum points as the race to win the title intensifies.

The win moved Gor four points clear of second-placed Tusker who dropped after their 0-0 draw with Nairobi City Stars. Gor has 62 points followed by the brewers on 58.

Nzoia Sugar on the other hand cut the gap between them and Tusker to within a point ater narroly defeating FC Talanata 1-0 at Sudi Stadium. Nzoia has 57 points.

At Bukhungu Stadium, Hillary Juma scored the solitary goal at the stroke of halftime as Kakamega Homeboyz narrowly defeated another relegation-threatened side Wazito.

Homeboyz moved seventh on 42 points as Wazito remained second last on 19 points, eight points away from safety.

Elsewhere, Elvis Rupia bagged a double as Kenya Police edged out Bidco 2-0. Other matches saw KCB draw 0-0 with Bandari as Ulinzi Stars stunned AFC Leopards 1-0.

Vihiga Bullets remain bottom of the table and look set to be relegated to the Super League.
