Kariobangi Sharks bite Mathare United in Slum Derby

Mathare United's relegation fight in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League were dealt a blow after losing the 'Slum Derby' 2-1 to Kariobangi Sharks on Tuesday at Kasarani Annex which hosted a double header.

In a match that witnessed three penalties awarded and scored, Tyson Otieno netted in both halves for Sharks as Curtis Wekesa scored Mathare's consolation goals.

The win moved Sharks to 11th with 36 points from 27 matches while Mathare United remained in the relegation zone at position 16th with 22 points from 26 matches. They remain four point away from safety as Naiorbi City Stars sit 15th with 26 points.

In the early kickoff match, 2009 champions Sofapaka lost to another relegation fighting team Wazito 3-2.

Stephen Bwire and Samuel Adebowale goals in addition to an own goal by Brian Bwire gifted Wazito an important win over the "Batoto ba Mungu" whose consolation goals were netted by Roddy Manga and Jacob Danoam.

Sofapaka who have now not registered any win in their last six matches dropped to 12th with 28 points from 26 matches.

Wazito remained second last in the log with 19 points.
