Kisumu All Stars on Saturday slowed down Shabana's title push after pulling a 1-0 victory over the National Super League (NSL) leaders at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Willis Otenda's first half strike in the 32nd minute was enough to hand All Stars maximum points as Shabana who were reduced to ten men saw their three-match winning streak brought to an end.

Shabana captain Bernard Otieno was red carded in the 80th minute for dangerous play.

Speaking after their defeat, Shabana head coach Sammy Okoth rued missed chances.

"We played very well today but unlucky. We did not convert our chances, a misfortune for us because our opponents used their only clear chance to score. We need to be clinical in front of goal home and away going forward.

"However, it is a learning curve for us because I believe we can and will bounce back even stronger," said Okoth.

Kisumu All Stars head coach Andrew Aroka on the other hand praised his side for not fearing the league leaders.

"Shabana are currently one of the best performing teams in Kenya not only in the NSL and to get a win over them is a plus for us.

"We build on this win moving forward," said Aroka whose team moved eighth.

In other matches, Vihiga United beat visiting Naivas FC 2-0, while Assad settled for a 1-1 draw with Coastal Heroes in Ukunda.

Migori Youth on the hand thrashed Kajido 4-0 as Muranga Seal played to a 1-1 draw against Darajan Gogo.
