Omalla nets 19th goal of the season to send Gor Mahia five points clear

Red-hot striker Benson Omalla scored his 19th goal of the season as Gor Mahia opened a five-point gap at the helm of the FKF Premier League after defeating Bidco United 1-0 at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Omalla netted in the 18th minute to hand K'Ogalo their 12 win of the 2022-2023 season.

The former Western Stima forward is now five-goals shy off Eric Kapaito's 25 goal netted in the 2020-2021 season. Last season's statistics do not count after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) declared the 2021-2022 season null and void.

Gor are now on 41 points with a five-point gap between them and second placed KCB who lost 2-1 to Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Annex.

Julius Masaba and Fortune Omotto scored for Sharks as Francis Kahiro netted the bankers' consolation goal.

Deefending champions Tusker meanwhile moved third on the log despite rallying from behind to salvage a point against Talanta in a 1-1 draw at Ruaraka.

Alvin Ochieng' netted for Talanta in the 26th minute to lead 1-0 at the break before former Gor Mahia defender Charles Momanyi salvaged a point for the brewers in the 88nd minute.

Joe Waithira scored Bandari's lone goal as he dockers saw off Nzoia Sugar 1-0 in Mombasa.
