Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia on Sunday moved third in the FKF Premier League after narrowly edging out Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Despite keeping the league's top scorer Benson Omalla quite in the game, Gor still managed to pick maximum points through Lloyd Kavuchi's lone goal in the 79th minute strike.

The win, K'Ogalo's fifth of the 2022-2023 season, moved them to third on 16 points, three points behind defending champions Tusker and with a game in-hand.

The brewers were dealt a blow in the match after defender Tom Teka was sent off with 30 minutes left on the clock but battled to draw 0-0 with Nzoia Sugar in the top of the table match played at Ruaraka Grounds.

The stalemate leaves them still top of the standings with 19 points, a point ahead of Nzoia Sugar who has played a game more.

At Kasarani Annex, Brian Yakhama scored a hat trick to inspire Talanta to a 3-2 comeback win over bottom placed Mathare United.

The Slum Boys took the lead through Donald Ange's 12th minute strike before Talanta restored parity at the half hour mark through Yakhama.

Three minutes to halftime, Mathare were handed a penalty when Alvin Chicha was penalized for bringing down Chris Opondo inside the box.

Lennox Oguttu stepped up to send Kevine Otieno in goal for Talanta the wrong way as they lead 2-1 at the break.

In the second half, Yakhama picked up where he left with two more strikes to send Talanta out of the relegation zone after a massive 3-2 win.
