Lions FC from Soin/Sigowet constituency walked home with a Sh1.2m in cash prize as the winners of the third edition of the Senator Kiptoyot football tournament played at Kericho Green Stadium over the weekend.

The tournament sponsored by Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot saw Lions beat Laibon from Ainamoi constituency 5-4 on penalties after the match ended 0-0 in regular time.

Laibon took home Sh500,000. Lions goalkeeper Leonard Kipchumba basked in glory after saving Danson Kiprono's decisive penalty. "Our players missed a number of open chances against our opponents who put on a brave fight," said Lions coach Ken Odhiambo. [Nikko Tanui]
