Football stakeholders are still not sure which direction the game will take after the term of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee comes to an end on October 15.

But they are hopeful the vessel will be steered well by the newly nominated Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba.

The FKF Caretaker Committee took over the management of the game from the FKF National Executive Committee on November 11, 2021, over alleged mismanagement of federation finances whose details are contained in the Sports Registrar's FKF Inspection Report.

The Caretaker Committee served the country for six months as per the law of the land before it was extended into a Transition Committee on May 16, 2022, by Sports CS Amina Mohamed.

On Thursday, the Transition Committee highlighted some of it's major achievements in the game for the last 11 months they have taken charge of the sport.

The successes outlined ranged from finance, league and competitions, medical, refereeing, and legal to security.

Others were based on technical and women, youth and beach football, and futsal.

Under Transition Committee achievements in finance the report stated: "We advanced grants to the FKF Premier League clubs for five months, this is Sh300,000 per month per club."

The Transition Committee states that they formulated a policy that guides clubs on proper procurement of ambulance services under medical.

While hailing the report which will be presented to the new Sports Cabinet Secretary in due course, Transition Committee chairman, Maj. Gen (Rtd) Maurice Otieno Oyugi said he is very proud of their achievements which were made under very difficult circumstances.

"We are eager to hand over the report after our term in office ends in October so the new government that is in place can chart the way forward.

"I believe we did a good job to the country in our short tenure including solving the tedious issue of rampant match-fixing that bad engulfed the leagues," Oyugi said.

The Transition Committee also highlighted some of the challenges that they faced in their operations, key among them the numerous litigations by the clubs against FKF and its respective committees.

"There is a continuous violation of world football governing body, Fifa rules," the report says.

The Transition Committee facilitated the football stakeholders to recommend changes to the FKF Constitution to be in line with the Constitution of Kenya 2010, Sports Act 2013, Sports Registrar's Regulations 2016, and the Fifa Statutes.

The proposals are contained in the FKF Technical Committee Final Report to be handed to the outgoing CS Mohamed.

Some of the recommendations suggested that the election of the FKF officials should be conducted in compliance with the Constitution of Kenya, the Sports Act, and the new FKF Constitution.

They are further suggesting that the appointment of coaches, technical persons, and match officials should be on clear contract terms.
