Ebwali Secondary School are the new national secondary school football boy's champions.

The Western Region heavyweights defeated Highway Secondary School from Nairobi 1-0 in a final staged at the Nakuru Boys High School on Monday to win their maiden national gong.

Ebwali advanced to the finals of the national school games with a 100 per cent win record after winning all their games including a 3-1 win over Highway in the Group stages.

Ebwali from the Western region beat Rift Valley's Kabarnet Boys 1-0 to book a place in the final.

Calvin Otieno was the hero of the match after scoring the lone goal.

On the other hand, Highway had a long route to the final after going through a gruelling semifinal against Nyanza region representatives Kisumu Day High School which ended in a 4-2 shootout victory for the Nairobi representatives.

Elsewhere, Wiyeta Girls High School claimed their 10th national school games title after beating Dagoretti Mixed High School 4-1 on post-match penalties after a barren draw in the final

Wiyeta booked a place in the final following an emphatic 6-0 win over Igito Girls High School which was a repeat of the Western Region final.

Dagoretti Mixed on the other hand edged out St. Maurice Mwira High School 1-0 in the other semifinal.

Both Wiyeta and Dagoretti will represent Kenya in Tanzania when the East Africa games kick off alongside Ebwali and Highway.
