Dortmund turn tides to stun Freiburg in Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund came from behind to grab the second win in as many Bundesliga games after beating Freiburg 3-1 on the road in the second round of German Bundesliga on Friday.
Both sides staged an evenly balanced start to the clash but Dortmund created the clear-cut chances through new arrival Anthony Modeste, who tested Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken twice at the half-hour mark.
Five minutes later, Freiburg punished Dortmund's wastefulness as Michael Gregoritsch beat Dortmund custodian Gregor Kobel with a well-placed header into the far post corner.
Dortmund was stunned but Freiburg couldn't extend its advantage despite promising chances in the closing stages of the first half.
After the restart, the hosts defended their narrow lead and let the BVB do the work but Dortmund lacked in ideas and couldn't overcome Freiburg's sturdy defense.

Freiburg should have made it two at the hour mark but Kobel defused Roland Sallai's promising effort from the edge of the box.
However, the visitors were able to restore parity with great assistance of Flekken, who fumbled Jamie Bynoe-Gitten's 20-meter attempt into the own goal with 77 minutes gone.
Dortmund sparked to life and completed its comeback in the 84th minute when Youssoufa Moukoko benefitted on Julian Brandt's lay-up to beat Flekken.
Things went from bad to worse for the hosts as Dortmund made it 3-1 on the scoreboards four minutes later after Marius Wolf scored the third joker goal of the night.
"We played a good game, I'm happy. In the end, we lost. It's a shame because the team has done well. What matters is what conclusions you draw from it. That you go into the next games like that again," said Freiburg's head coach Christian Streich.
"It was a very intense game against a very, very strong opponent. Freiburg played a very good game and it was extremely difficult for us. We changed a few things after the break. We then defended ourselves, and scored three goals through three substitutes. We showed how good the squad is. We are very happy to go home with a win," said Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic.
