PSG unveil Christophe Galtier as new head coach

Barely an hour after sacking Mauricio Pochettino, Paris St Germain have moved with speed to announce the new head coach, Mr Christophe Galtier.

Galtier, formerly of Nice and Lille, has signed a two-year contract which will keep him at the Parc des Princes until June 30, 2024.

The Frenchman has signed a contract for two seasons until 30th June 2024.

is popular for leading Saint Etienne to the Coupe de la Ligue trophy in 2013.

Galtier kept Lille safe and guided them to the Champions League in his first season, after finishing second overall.

He led Lille to the Ligue 1 trophy in the 2020-21 season, finishing a point ahead of PSG.

Galtier was jubilant during his unveiling, promising to build a solid team, strike the right balance and improve on last season’s results.

“I am delighted to join Paris Saint-Germain, I would like to thank the chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and the club for their confidence in me. I am fully aware of the responsibilities involved to coach this extraordinary team, which is one of the most competitive and spectacular squads in Europe,” said Galtier.

PSG President and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Chairman also expressed delight at Galtier joining the club.

“We are delighted to welcome Christophe to the Paris Saint-Germain family. Christophe’s track record is outstanding, and he has enjoyed success at every club he has managed. His many achievements are founded on an exceptional character that gets the best out of his players and his teams - based on a collective spirit. We are proud to have a French coach and look forward to the next chapter of the Club’s growth with Christophe,” said Nasser.
