Mieno rallies Tusker as brewers look to capitalize Homeboyz Slip

Defending champions Tusker can open a two-point lead in the race to win the 2021-2022 FKF Premier League title after leaders Kakamega Homeboyz drop vital points in their 1-1 draw against Gor Mahia yesterday at Kasarani Stadium.

The brewers host Nzoia Sugar on Sunday knowing a win over the relegation threatened sugar-men will take them two pins above leaders Homeboyz. Nzoia Sugar side who are on a seven-match winless run.

Homeboyz are still top of the standings with 57 points, a point behind Tusker.

Tusker captain Humphrey Mieno has called on the players to show focus and strong mentality in the final three games of the season, as the team looks towards defending the title.

“The most important thing is to remained focused and with a strong mentality. That is what is required in these remaining matches. We need to win all the three games and hopefully we can emerge champions,” said Mieno.

“We were in a similar situation last year but this season we have a different set of players. But all in all the team needs to remain focused on a match at a time and now the target is to earn maximum points against Nzoia Sugar on Sunday.”

Three matches are on the cards today with Tusker playing Nzoia at Ruaraka, Kariobangi Sharks hosting Bandari and relegation threatened Vihiga Bullets entertaining Ulinzi Stars in Kakamega.
