Vihiga Queens are one win from being crowned the new Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League (FKF-WPL) champions.

Vihiga saw off Gaspo Women 2-0 in their last match to move closer to reclaiming the title they last won in 2019.

Harambee Starlets star Topister Situma and Immah Wangira scored as the western-based club cemented their lead on top of the table with 47 points, 13 POINTS ahead of second-placed Ulinzi Starlets.

Furthermore, Vihiga are 16 points above defending champions Thika Queens who are third with 31 points.

The three-times winner of the title will dethrone current champions Thika Queens on Saturday if they defeat Zetech Sparks at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Vihiga Queens' head coach Boniface Nyamunyamuh said he is upbeat they will seal the title with four matches left till the end of the regular season.

“I am happy the team has been playing well since the beginning of the campaign. To be where we are is as a result of team work and hard work and now heading into Saturday’s game we need to seal the title,” said Nyamunyamuh.

Meanwhile, Fasila Adhiambo of Kangemi Ladies leads the top scorers log with 12 goals followed by Puren Alukwe (Zetech Sparks) and Topister Situma (Vihiga Queens) each with 11 goals.
