Sofapaka hold Gor Mahia as Bandari end losing streak

Sofapaka held record champions Gor Mahia to a 1-1 draw in a midweek Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Wundanyi Stadium in Taita Taveta County.

Sofapaka took the lead through Joseph Waithera in the first half before Peter Lwasa leveled for K'Ogalo in the second half.

The draw leaves Sofapaka joint tenth in the log with 26 points same as AFC Leopards whose match against Ulinzi Stars at Green Stadium in Kericho was postponed after hosts Ulinzi failed to provide a well-equipped ambulance as required by the league.

Gor on the other hand continue to lose ground on log leaders Kakamega Homeboyz following the stalemate.

Despite heading into the match with confidence from their 2-1 victory over Ulinzi in Kisumu last Saturday, Gor could not break the Sofapaka defense for the second and winning goal.

The draw leaves Gor joint third on the log with 35 points same as Nairobi City Stars who lost 2-1 to Posta Rangers.

In Nairobi, Bandari FC ended their nine-match winless streak after beating FC Talanta 2-0 in a match staged at the Kasarani Annex.

Umaru Kasumba's fourth minute goal gave the dockers the lead in the first half, before captain Felly Mulumba slotted home the second in the 77th minute to seal an important 2-0 win.

Bandari’s last victory came on January 4th when they defeated Sofapaka 1-0 before going on a rough road that saw them loose three matches and draw six matches which saw Cassa Mbungo fired as coach and replaced by Anthony Kimani.

The win moved the dockers to eighth on 31 points, six points behind second placed Tusker.
